EGAT-TNB holds the 49th JOC to strengthen the international transmission system

          EGAT and Tenaga Nasional Berhad cooperated to improve the efficiency and reliability of the power system through knowledge and experience sharing.

          On January 17 -18, 2017, Mr. Roengchai Khongthong, Director of Power System Control and Operation Division, the leader of EGAT team which was comprised of representatives from related divisions co-hosted the 49th Joint Operation Committee with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) at Pattaya, Chonburi Province. Mr. Gurcharan Singh, Senior General Manager, System Operations Department, Transmission Division led the TNB team to join the meeting as well.

          Mr. Roengchai Khongthong said that EGAT and TNB has the interconnected grid via HVDC system and HVAC system at Sadao District, Songkhla Province. JOC meeting is the floor for knowledge and experience sharing in technical problem solving and power purchase. The cooperation will enhance good relationship and the convenience for co-working process between the two organizations, which will lead to the increase of reliability and performance improvement of Thailand and Malaysia’s power systems.

          For this meeting, apart from knowledge and experience sharing between the two utilities, the progression of Refurbish HVDC and electricity generation measures during the shutdown of JDA – A18 were informed.

          The JOC meeting between EGAT and TNB is held every year, and the next one will be hosted by Malaysia in 2018.
