EGAT wins “Green Organization Award” for the third year

          EGAT won 14 Green Industry awards, Level 4 (Green Organization) from Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry for the third year, which reflects EGAT operation that is friendly to the environment with social responsibility and transparency.

          On September 11, 2017 at Makawan Rangsan Room, the Army Club, Vibhavadi Rangsit Road, Mr. Somchai Harnhirun, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry chaired the green industry certificate awarding ceremony of the year 2017 held by Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry in which EGAT could win 14 awards in the Green Organization, Level 4 bestowed to 14 EGAT corporate units.

          Mr. Nikul Silasuwan, Deputy Governor – Generation, said that EGAT operation always comply with environmental regulations which is the reason that EGAT has won the Green Industry awards for the third year. The criteria that the Department of Industrial Works use to consider the award winners are the organization’s encouragement for all staff to work with environmental friendliness awareness until it becomes the corporate culture. In this year, EGAT could win 14 awards bestowed to 14 units namely, South Bangkok Power Plant, Bang Pakong Power Plant, Krabi Power Plant, Mae Moh Power Plant, Wang Noi Power Plant, Nam Phong Power Plant, Kaeng Krachan Power Plant, Bang Lang Power Plant, Ubonratana Power Plant, Chulabhorn Power Plant, Bhumibol Power Plant, Mae Ngat Somboon Chon Power Plant, Sirindhorn Power Plant, and Workshop and Spare Parts Division. All of these units are committed to their main mission of generating power in parallel with environmental care. Their CSR projects include Biological Way of Life for Sustainable Development and Plant Genetic Conservation Project under the Royal Initiative. They also use innovations for their operation process.

          Green Industry Project has been organized by Department of Industrial Works, Ministry of Industry since 2011 to promote environmental awareness in the operation of industry sector. The award criteria are categorized into 5 levels : green goal, green activities, green system, green organization, and green network. There is a total of 212 organizations winning the awards: 23 organizations win green industry award, level 5 and 189 organization win green industry award, level 4.
