EGAT wins Outstanding Award on supporter of energy conservation and renewable energy from TEA 2017 for 6 consecutive years

          EGAT won the Outstanding Award on supporter of energy conservation and renewable energy from “Thailand Energy Awards 2017” held by Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy.

          On August 21, 2017 Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired the award granting ceremony of Thailand Energy Awards 2017in which Mr. Nikul Silasuwan, Deputy Governor – Generation as EGAT representative was handed the Outstanding Award on supporter of energy conservation and renewable energy in the category of organization (public sector) at Ballroom, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok.

          Mr. Nikul Silasuwan, Deputy Governor – Generation said that EGAT has won the Outstanding Award on supporter of energy conservation and renewable energy for 6 consecutive years. EGAT has continuously implemented many projects and activities to disseminate knowledge on energy conservation and renewable energy such as energy label no.5 project, green classroom project which becomes low carbon school project at present, energy camp project, and Thai electricity knowledge project. Moreover, EGAT has adapted its operation to support Energy 4.0 strategy with a plan to appropriately increase the share of renewable energy for power generation and develop renewable innovations and technologies for the security of Thailand power system and environmental friendliness.

          The award granting ceremony of Thailand Energy Awards 2017 was held by Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy to praise those who support energy conservation and renewable energy and encourage the participation of related parties. Thailand Energy Awards was held for the first time in 2000, and until now EGAT has received the total of 13 outstanding awards which are 4 renewable energy awards, 1 energy conservation award, 2 personnel awards, 1 creative energy award, and 5 energy conservation and renewable energy supporter awards.

          Thailand Energy Awards 2017 had the total of 262 contestants and 66 awards which were divided into 5 parts namely renewable energy award, energy conservation award, personnel award, creative energy award, energy conservation and renewable energy supporter award. It can be calculated that 420 million baht can be saved annually, while 290,000 tons of carbon dioxide can be reduced per year.
