Known agitators are mingling among Dhammakaya followers

Police and officials of the Department of Special Investigation have been told to look out for a group of about 30 known agitators who are believed to be mingling among protesting Dhammakaya followers allegedly to incite resistance against the officials.

DSI deputy director-general Pol Col Songsak Raksaksakul said Sunday that some of these known agitators used to be involved in past political protests in Bangkok. He added that officials had been told to gather evidences to nail down these alleged troublemakers.

The DSI deputy chief said he was not worried with the attempts by Dhammakaya followers and supporters to internationalise the government’s clampdown on the Dhammakaya cult and the use of Section 44 to hunt down Phra Dhammachayo, former abbot of the temple.

He insisted on the necessity to screen all the monks inside the temple to make sure that they are real monks and are residents at Dhammakaya.

Policemen from the 3rd and 4th regional police bureau will be arriving at the temple ground on Monday to rotate with police from the 2nd regional bureau who are to be sent back for rest.
