Mass ordination of hill tribe men as a tribute to the beloved late King Bhumibol

The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, the Buddhist Mission for Remote People Foundation under the Patronage of Her Royal Highness the Princess Mother and a group of Buddhist missionary monks have jointly organized a mass ordination for highland people in honor of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

The National News Bureau of Thailand reported that a total of 349 men from 10 hill tribes such as Karen, Lahu, Akha and Hmong as well as men from other remote areas were ordained. Minister of Social Development and Human Security Pol.Gen.Adul Saengsingkaeo attended the event.

Before the ordination ceremony at Wat Benchamabophit in Bangkok, the minister said the mass ordination project has organized continuously for 52 years, ordaining more than 10,000 men.

The monks will stay in various temples in the northern provinces such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phrae and Lamphun, NNT said.
