Reconciliation talks are set to kick off on Tuesday which falls on the St Valentine’s Day between three political parties and the committee to make preparations for the building of unity and reconciliation.
Defence Ministry spokesman Lt-Gen Kongcheep Tantravanich said on Monday that the Kwamwang Mai (New Aspiration) Party, the Kruakhai Chaona Haeng Prathet Thai (Thai Farmers’ Network) Party and the Khon Thammada Haeng Prathet Thai (Ordinary People) Prathet had accepted the invitation to meet with the committee at the ministry’s pavilion tomorrow from 9 am to noon for reconciliation talks.
The first round of talks will be chaired by the defence permanent secretary who will also take the opportunity to welcome representatives from the three parties, said the spokesman, adding the next meeting will take place on Wednesday afternoon between the committee and the Chart Pattana Party.
He further said that the committee would extend invitations to the other parties and political groupings and would wait for their replies so that meetings could be arranged at appropriate timings.
Lt-Gen Kongcheep said he expected political parties and groupings to seize this opportunity to share their views and propose recommendation which are constructive and useful for advancing the cause of national unity and reconciliation.
