Bangkok, 29 September, 2017 –The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) recently introduced a seven-day/six-night amazing Thailand local experience itinerary that offers numerous pampering opportunities and daily lifestyle interactions with communities near Bangkok.

So, TAT introduced its amazing Thailand local experience, with a focus on health and wellness options in Bangkok and nearby destinations, through a media familiarisation trip from Europe on 24 to 30 September.
On the first and second day in Bangkok, media participants enjoyed Thai spa treatments and a glimpse into the Thai gastronomic scene at ‘Taste it all 2017@Ratchaprasong: The Royal Delights – Pheasant Festival’ which runs until 31 October.
The second part of the amazing Thailand local experience journey – day three to five – highlighted the unique local lifestyles of various communities in Samut Sakhon, Samut Songkhram and Nakhon Pathom. These included the Mae Klong Railway Market (Talat Rom Hup), Tha Kha Floating Market and the 140-year-old Thana Market plus two nights in traditional Thai houses in Amphawa and Sampran districts.
The itinerary also had a traditional Thai massage session and an organic farm tour with a picnic lunch. Traditional Thai activities, including bamboo dancing and Muay Thai lessons, umbrella painting, garland making and rice farming, were also available.
The final part of the amazing Thailand local experience trip finished in Bangkok with more Thai spa treatments and organic meals. There was also a walking tour of the historic Bang Rak Food Tasting and Culture Tour plus the local community of Ban Bu.

Bangkok, 29 September, 2017 – Amadeus and the Mekong Tourism Coordinating Office (MTCO) are jointly organising the first Mekong Trends Aviation Seminar, which is scheduled to take place in Bangkok on 10 October.
The inaugural Mekong Trends Aviation Seminar will highlight the key insights of the recently published Mekong Trends Snapshot on Air Transport in the Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS). Both the report and the seminar intend to emphasise the importance of aviation in the development of the region’s tourism.
Mr. Nanda Pillai, Amadeus Asia Pacific’s Regional Director for South and South East Asia – Airlines said, “Together with MTCO we look forward to hosting a stimulating discussion with the GMS travel industry on the further evolution of aviation in the region, and the existing challenges as well as opportunities for airlines.

According to the Mekong Trends report, over the last 20 years, air transport in the GMS helped to open up many destinations in the region such as Siem Reap in Cambodia, Luang Prabang in Lao PDR, Danang in Vietnam, Mandalay in Myanmar and Guilin in Guangxi, the People’s Republic of China.
The trend accelerated with the emergence of budget airlines. New air routes today link destinations such as Sihanoukville in Cambodia, Khon Kaen in Thailand, and Pakse in Lao PDR, destinations which were barely noticed by travellers before.

Bangkok, 28 September, 2017 – Travel Impact Newswire has launched an essay competition on how travel and tourism can contribute to the United Nation Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). The Olive Tree Awardsessay competition is claimed to be the first of its kind in the global travel and tourism industry.
Young people under 30 all over the world are invited to submit essays of up to 1,200 words on how travel and tourism can advance the cause of the UN SDGs and meet targets by 2030.
The competition will be held every six months, or two times a year. Each round will see winners awarded one first prize of US$1,000 and two runners up to US$500 each.
The total annual prize money of US$4,000 is being generously donated by Mr Sonu Shivdasani, Co-Founder and CEO of Evason Resorts and the Dubai-based M F Husain Foundation.
The winners of each round will be announced on 20 March 2018 marking the International Day of Happiness, and on 21 Sept, marking the International Day of Peace.
Submission criteria includes that writers are under 30 years old on date of submission (ID proof of age will be required). Anyone can submit an essay regardless of past experiences, but essay must in English, up to 1,200 words long and have travel and tourism angle.
Tips for writers include studying the e SDGs carefully; downloading The Olive Tree publications to access thought-prompting ideas; pen an essay presenting a good idea, venting a powerful frustration, or sharing a passion, experience or event.
Although all essays must be in English, they will be judged on the quality of the ideas, not the quality of the English.
The deadline for the first round of submissions is 31 December. Winners will be notified by 15 March, 2018. The winning essays will also be published on the Travel Impact Newswire website.
