Beautiful Bangkok by Magnolias @Ratchaprasong 3D projection mapping to ring in 2018

Bangkok, 28 November, 2017 – Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard, Bangkok’s new landmark, is staging a ‘Beautiful Bangkok by Magnolias @Ratchaprasong’ 3D building projection mapping event to ring in 2018.

The show will take place on 14 to 30 December 2017 with five performances nightly at 19:00, 19:15, 19:30, 19:45, and 20:00 Hrs. On 31 December, there is an additional performance at 11:55 Hrs.

Beautiful Bangkok by Magnolias @Ratchaprasong will use Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard as the canvas for high-technology innovative 3D building mapping projection through collaboration with the world-renowned Limelight group of artists.

The public can also join the activity by submitted their best photo for a chance to win 100,000 Baht for Beautiful Ratchaprasong or Beautiful Magnolias to beautifulbangkokbymagnolias@gmail.com with name, address, and contact number. Contestants can also can post a photo with a caption on Facebook or Instagram and add hash tag (#) beautifulbangkok, beautifulratchaprasong, beautifulmagnolias or bangkokiconiclandmark.

Organised in collaboration with the Ratchaprasong Square Trade Association and the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the event is said to be Thailand’s first ever 3D projection mapping performance on a 60-story skyscraper.

Magnolias Ratchadamri Boulevard is a mixed-use development worth over 11 billion Baht. The 60-story high-rise development is on 9,600 sq m (6 rai) of prime land on Ratchadamri Road.

Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2017 builds on success of ‘Best Asian Regatta’

Bangkok/Phuket, 28 November, 2017 – The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 31st Anniversary will be hosted at Beyond Resort Kata, Phuket, from 2-9 December, and will reaffirm the event’s success following its recent win for ‘2016 Asia Boating Awards – Best Asian Regatta’.

Kevin Whitcraft, President of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organising Committee, said: “Following the huge occasion of last year’s 30th Anniversary landmark race and event series, this year’s regatta already has over 75 keelboats confirmed to participate, so the regatta endures as a big attraction for sailing teams from around the world”.

Fleets this year feature the full-sized Keelboat & Multihull classes, scheduled on 4-6, 8 and 9 December, and International Dinghy racing, from 4-6 and 8 December. Event series include Optimist Boy & Girl, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, Laser Standard and Topper.

The regatta also encompasses International Dinghy fleet, a fast-growing racing programme designed to promote and encourage youth sailing in Thailand. Many of the young sailors competing will go on to join the crews of full-size keelboat racing teams, and compete in the larger Phuket King’s Cup Regatta in future regatta years.

The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta is organised by the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organising Committee under the auspices of the Royal Varuna Yacht Club, in conjunction with the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, the Royal Thai Navy and the Province of Phuket.

The opening ceremony will be held on 3 December and the prize giving ceremony on 9 December, at Beyond Resort Kata, part of Kata Group, and rebranded from Kata Beach Resort and Spa, the longstanding spiritual home of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta.

TAT celebrates Mastercard’sGlobal Travel City honour 2017 for Bangkok

BANGKOK, 28November, 2017 – Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn (2nd from left), Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), received the award from Mr. Donald Ong (2nd from right), Mastercard’s Country Manager – Thailand & Myanmar, on the occasion that Bangkok has recently been ranked as the world’s favourite holiday destination, taking the top spot in the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index 2017, for the second consecutive year.

The Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index 2017 ranked a total of 132 destination cities around the world on their total international overnight visitor arrivals and the cross-border spending by these visitors in 2016. For Bangkok, this amounted to 19.41 million overnight visitors and visitor spend of US$14.1 billion.

Earlier this year the Mastercard Asia-Pacific Destinations Index 2017, which is an off-shoot of the Mastercard Global Destination Cities Index also named Bangkok first among 171 destinations throughout the region.
