Jazz legend Brian McKnight to perform at Thailand International Jazz Festival 2018

The Thailand International Jazz Festival 2018 is scheduled to take place from 2 to 3 February at Singha Park, Chiang Rai, with global jazz legend Brian McKnight leading a lineup of award-winning artists and emerging jazz stars from around the world along with talented local performers.

Brian McKnight, the American R&B singer-songwriter, arranger, producer, and musician, is a multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar, bass guitar, percussion, trombone, tuba, flugelhorn and trumpet the equal ease. His honours include an American Music Award, Billboard Music Award, Soul Train Music Award and an NAACP Image Award.

Another highlight is Joey Alexander, the 13-year Indonesian contemporary jazz pianist and child prodigy, is the first Indonesian musician to chart on Billboard 200 when his first studio album “My Favorite Things” debuted in 2015.

American visitors to Thailand hit 1 million for the first time

Bangkok, 21 December, 2017 – The number of Americans visiting Thailand annually hit the 1-million mark today, setting a new record for Thailand’s No 1 source market from the Americas Region, where the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) operates two offices in New York and Los Angeles, USA.

Mr. Nathaniel Alexander Way, Thailand’s 1 millionth American tourist for 2017, is a pharmaceutical scientist from Santa Babara, California. He arrived in Bangkok this late morning on EVA Air’s Flight BR67 from Taipei, Taiwan. He travelled here on a 10-day honeymoon, with an itinerary focussing on nature and Thai local experiences in Bangkok, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Krabi (Ao Nang) and Surat Thani (Khao Sok).

Thailand’s visitor arrivals surge to 34 million, exceeds annual target

Bangkok, 21 December, 2017 – The Thai tourism industry is poised to hit yet another new record after the arrival of Thailand’s 34 millionth visitor and 1.81 trillion baht (US$ 50 billion) for the full calendar year 2017.

Ms. Yu-Chen Wang, the 34 millionth arrival to the Kingdom in 2017 was named ‘Thailand’s Luckiest Visitor’ upon arrival at Suvarnabhumi Airport, warmly welcomed by private sector tourism industry representatives and senior executives of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

Ms. Wang arrived in Bangkok this late morning on Thai Airways International’s Flight TG637 from Taipei, Taiwan. She plans to spend five days with her friends taking in the sights and soaking up local Thai experiences in Bangkok and Ayutthaya.

She was rewarded with two economy-class return tickets from her original destination to Thailand, a voucher for five-night accommodation in Thailand as well as the ‘Thailand’s Luckiest Visitor’ accolades that included a signed certificate from TAT.
