The third army region commander assured on Thursday that the military would provide safety protection to all officials in different units involved in the eviction of illegal resorts in Petchabun province’s Phu Tab Berk mountainous retreat.
Lt-Gen Somsak Nilbancherdkul said the army would ensure safety to all officials who were involved in the demolition work either directly or indirectly. He said he would not let influential figures to intimidate the officials.
The third army region commander’s comment was in response to an unofficial report saying that senior officials involved in the demolition work, including the governor of Phetchabun, the district chief officer of Lom Kao and forest officials had received death threats.
