Bangkok, 4 June, 2017 – Thailand-based Bangkok Airways has entered into a codeshare agreement with Hong Kong-based Hong Kong Airlines to improve connectivity between Hong Kong and Ko Samui and to ensure seamless travel for passengers.
The codeshare agreement, in operation from 1 June 2017, allows Hong Kong Airlines’ passengers to travel on Bangkok Airways’ flights to the island of Samui from Hong Kong or Bangkok. The codeshare applies to the non-stop twice daily services from Hong Kong to Samui or any of the multiple daily, Bangkok-Samui flights. Under the codeshare agreement, Hong Kong Airlines passengers will have access to Bangkok Airways lounges and will receive in-flight meals.
The codeshare will help to boost the image of the two airlines and improve sales on the popular route between Hong Kong and the holiday island of Samui. The agreement will also help strengthen the airline industry in Thailand, give a boost to the economy and help to consolidate Thailand’s status as an aviation hub in Asia.
Bangkok Airways was established in 1968 and now markets itself as Asia’s Boutique Airline, operating over 100 flights a day from Suvarnabhumi Airport to twenty five destinations across Thailand and Asia.
Hong Kong Airlines was started in 2006 and now flies to 30 major Asia Pacific cities with its fleet of 33 Airbus aircraft. The airline was the winner of Asia’s Leading Inflight Service in World Travel Awards 2015.
