The Cabinet, during its meeting on 15 February 2021, approved a 4,000-baht COVID-19 handout for insured persons under Section 33 of the Social Security Act.
The financial relief package, known as “Mo 33 Rao Rak Kan (Section 33 We Love Each Other),” aims to ease financial burdens on the people affected by COVID-19 infections and encourage public spending in the economic system.
The Government will spend 37.1 billion baht on this project, which will benefit 9.27 million people covered by Section 33 of the Social Security Act.
The 4,000-baht handout will be transferred to the target group through the g-Wallet application “Pao Tang” in March and April 2021. The money may be used to buy essential goods and services through the application, in the same manner as the Rao Chana scheme.
This project will last eight months, from February to September 2021. Eligible recipients must not be state welfare cardholders and their combined outstanding bank balances must not exceed 500,000 baht as of 31 December 2020.
It is expected that the financial relief package will reduce the cost of living for the target group, who will spend the money on consumer goods. This will help boost the circulation of money in the economic system and distribute income among small traders.
