An individual’s expense for tourism purpose of not exceeding 15,000 baht which is incurred this year can be used as tax deductible to be reduced from taxable income, said Prime Minister’s Office Vice Minister Kobsak Phutrakul on Tuesday.
He said the cabinet on Tuesday approved the tax deductible in order to promote domestic tourism during the high season which has already started.
Together with an earlier tax deductible introduced some time ago, the total amount of tax deductible for domestic tourism purpose has increased to a maximum of 30,000 baht.
Tourism business for the second half of the year has been seriously affected by sharp decline of tourist arrivals from China since the government’s launch of a crackdown against zero-dollar package tours from China. It was reported that tourist arrivals from China was down by between 60-70 percent.
