CEPSI 2016 draws to a successful conclusion

CEPSI 2016 and AESIEAP’s 42nd Council Meeting in Bangkok ended successfully with 1,500 delegates from 31 countries attending. The symbolic flag was handed to the next host, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB).

On October 26, 2016 Mr. Kornrasit Pakchotanon, EGAT Governor and the President of AESIEAP (the Association of the Electricity Supply Industry of East Asia and the Western Pacific: AESIEAP) chaired the closing ceremony of the 21st Conference of Electric Power Supply Industry (CEPSI 2016) and AESIEAP’s 42nd Council Meeting held on October 23-27, 2019 at Centara Grand & Bangkok Convention Centre at CentralWorld. On October 27, 2016 the delegates went to visit North Bangkok Power Plant in Nonthaburi Province and EGAT Workshop and Spare Parts Division in Nongchok District.

The President of AESIEAP said that CEPSI 2016 and AESIEAP’s 42nd Council Meeting was the floor for knowledge exchange among 1500 participants from 31 countries on power technologies. He appreciated all support that brought the event to the tangible success, especially from all sponsors.

“In this occasion, I would like to pass the baton in hosting the 43rd AESIEAP Council Meeting in Penang and CEPSI 2018 in Kuala Lumpur to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia that is one of the biggest power producer in ASEAN. I am certain that Datuk Seri Ir. Azman Mohd., the new AESIEAP president will lead AESIEAP 2017 and CEPSI 2018 to another step of power development cooperation in the region and the world,” said EGAT Governor.

Mrs. Bhawana Aungkananuwat, Assistant Governor – Human Resources and AESIEAP Secretariat said that it was the rare occasion that world-renowned speakers gathered together to share their experiences. It was also the good chance for EGAT to show the world that we had the potential to be among top leaders in p20161101E 01ower utilities. Although Thailand was in the period of great mourning, the event organization was praised excellent by the delegates.

In this event, Best Paper Awards were given to 4 articles: Power Generation Category to “Development of an Online Monitoring System for Dissolved Gas in Power transformer Oil by Fiber-Optic Gas Sensor” by Mr. Bian Hu, Wuling Power Co.,Ltd. China; Transmission and Distribution Category to “Transformer Core Noise Measurement and Prediction” by Dr. Romain Haettel, ABB Corporate Research Center, Sweden; Smart Grid & New Technologies Category to “Advances in Wide Area Monitoring and Control in the GB Grid” by Dr. Douglas Wilson, GE Grid Solutions, Great Britain; Consumer Engagement Category to “Engaging Customers towards an Effective Energy Demand Management” by Ms. Laurenne E.
