Charter court rules CDC can amend pre-amble of new charter draft

The Constitutional Court has agreed unanimously that the Constitution Drafting Committee is authorized to amend the pre-amble of the new constitution draft in correspondence with the real situation.

The cabinet sought the opinion of the charter court regarding Section 5 (second paragraph) about amendments to the pre-amble of the new charter draft.

The court ruled that it was the prerogative of the CDC to amend the pre-amble to fit in with the real situation before the final draft is to be presented by Prime Minister Prayut Cha-ocha to the new King for endorsement.
