The Center for Economic and Business Forecasting at the University of Thai Chamber of Commerce has projected that communications technology and network services will become the top rising star for the year 2018.
The survey was based on the industry’s turnover, cost, business margin, risk factor, and competition.
Associate professor Ms Sauwanee Thairungroj said communications technology and networking service will be the top among 10 businesses named as rising stars for next year.
She attributed the communications business at the top as the government has rolled out several mega projects to develop the country’s basic infrastructures.
Others rising stars are internet service; medical cosmetic, e-commerce, petrochemical and plastic, and financial service.
Meanwhile businesses that are projected to be on the downturn are: handicraft; mining; printed media; book rental; manufacturing and distribution of playthings; CD and DVD production and distribution; cable TV; and farm produces business, including rubber, palm and rice.
She said contributing factors for business sector next year are growing economic trend, state investment and tourism growth, while deterring factors are the US economic policy that continue to cast uncertainty to global economy, and international terrorism.
