Bangkok: Corrections Department clarifies that prisoner letters from prison will not have prison stamps, and the Uyghur prisoner insists that he never wrote the letter, indicating that it was an improperly created letter.
According to Thai News Agency, the Orange Party lied about something’ which published a message on February 28, 2025, regarding a letter from a Uighur prisoner with a stamp from Klong Prem Central Prison sent to the Prime Minister dated November 15, 2024, the Department of Corrections has received a report of the fact-finding results from Klong Prem Central Prison. The Uighur prisoner confirmed that he never wrote the letter as reported in the media and that the handwriting was not his. Between November 2024 and the present, he has never sent any letters outside the prison.
Initially, the prison compared the handwriting and found that they were clearly different. In addition, Klong Prem Central Prison checked the information on the receipt and sending of letters and did not find any such letter. Furthermore, the seal on the letter was not the seal of Klong Prem Central Prison. According to the regulations of the Department of Corrections, before sending a letter outside the prison, the content of the letter must be checked to see if it affects security or peace and order. It turned out that there was no such letter. In particular, letters from prisoners leaving the prison do not have any prison seals. Additionally, the prisoner did not have any relatives or lawyers visiting him.
The Department of Corrections would like to confirm that the letter in question was not issued by Klong Prem Central Prison. Therefore, it is likely to have been created improperly. The prison has inspected and strictly complied with the regulations and guidelines set by the Department of Corrections.
