Deputy Labour Minister Visits Krabi to Support Workers in Agriculture to Drive a Sustainable National Economy

The Deputy Labour Minister visited Krabi to create a quality workforce in the agricultural sector to drive the country’s economy sustainably.

On April 7, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat joined Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Capt. Thammanat Prompao to visit Krabi to. They met with farmers and clarified guidelines for using arable land in the Land Reform Area (Sor.Por.Kor. 4-01), along with giving seeds to be used for soil maintenance. After that, they visited the Ministry of Labour’s mobile activities for the people, exhibitions of the five agencies’ missions under the Ministry of Labour in Krabi. The event published and publicized the Ministry of Labour’s missions related to agricultural workers at Khao Phanom Subdistrict, Khao Phanom District, Krabi Province.

Prof. Narumon said that one of the policies driving the Ministry of Labour emphasizes integrating the work of the departments under the Ministry of Labour, creating network partnerships with external agencies to assist and care for workers to have jobs. The efforts require the groundwork to be laid down to promote knowledge, abilities, and skills, to be able to enter into the employment system or join the self-employment process. The Department of Skill Development was assigned to operate under the concept to “create, elevate and give; uniting Thailand to build a nation,” creating a quality workforce to raise skill levels to meet the standards and promote workers to have a wide variety of skills. The efforts allow participants to apply them in their occupations amid changing situations and provide opportunities to access more funding sources. Today, the committee visited Krabi to listen to problems and obstacles from agricultural workers in Krabi, meeting the need for the Ministry of Labour to assist in various fields under the ministry’s mission, to truly respond to the needs and workers to have a job and earn an income, to take care of themselves and their families.

The Ministry of Labour’s mobile activities for the people consisted of the meeting the workforce project to meet people in Krabi, anti-drug campaigns, prevention of Covid-19 by the Krabi Provincial Labour Office, including anti-drug campaigns and Covid-19 prevention awareness. The Krabi Provincial Employment Office carried out recruitment activities and gave attendees career advice, providing information about home workers and recruitment documents. The Krabi Provincial Skill Development Office provided recruitment training, a demonstration of professional training in making tie-dye fabrics and male haircuts. The Krabi Provincial Labour Protection and Welfare Office received complaints about employment conditions from formal and informal employment and advised about occupational safety laws. The Krabi Social Security Office provided knowledge on benefits to insured persons, campaigned promoting applicants to be insured under Section 40, and recruited for Section 40.
