Deputy PM Commends MOL for Managing Proactive Covid-19 Screening for Insured Persons

On April 28, 2021, at 10.00 hours, at the meeting room on the 5th floor, Ministry of Labour, Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan, presided over the meeting to monitor the proactive Covid-19 testing among the workforce. Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Assistant to the Labour Minister Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan, Advisor to the Deputy Labour Minister M.L. Puntrik Smiti, the Labour Minister’s Secretariat Mr. Suthep Chitayavong, Major General Nantachat Supamongkol from the Office of the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, Permanent Secretary of Labour Mr. Suthi Sukosol and the Ministry of Labour’s executives also joined the meeting.

General Prawit said that from the Covid-19 outbreak situation happening presently, he thanked all of the Ministry of Labour’s officials and staff for uniting together to help people affected by Covid-19 to their fullest ability. He asked that everyone remember to protect themselves from Covid-19. He showed admiration for the Ministry of Labour in providing proactive Covid-19 screening in five high-risk provinces, including Bangkok, Pathum Thani, Nonthaburi, Chonburi, and Chiang Mai, helping workers affected by Covid-19 promptly.

Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin revealed that Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan which oversees the Ministry of Labour, has emphasized the additional work in the following areas: 1) Organize a proactive Covid-19 screening system following the measures set by the Ministry of Public Health, supporting insured people at risk quickly and appropriately. 2) Coordination with hospitals in the social security network in preparing plans to accommodate insured persons who may be infected with Covid-19, for those who are asymptomatic, to coordinate a transfer to Hospitels. 3) The surveillance and Covid-19 screening in all establishments to help prevent the spread of Covid-19. 4) To help workers, including informal workers who may be unemployed or lacking income due to the Covid-19 situation, such as Grab employees, providing skill development in appropriate forms. He encouraged the drive in various measures and asked the workforce and the Ministry of Labour’s officials to stay safe from Covid-19, to jointly develop the country, join hands and drive the government policy “we will not leave anyone behind.”

“I would like insured persons to be assured that from doing the above, the government and the Ministry of Labour have integrated with the relevant departments to support and to mitigate the Covid-19 pandemic to be resolved as soon as possible, ensuring insured persons receive the best care possible,” concluded Mr. Suchart.
