BAGAN DATUK, Malaysia — Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s take is that Malaysia will edge defending champions Thailand 1-0 in tonight’s Kuala Lumpur SEA Games football final.
Their (Thailand’s) quality of play is good but both teams are evenly matched. It will be a close match and I am praying that our boys will win with at least a 1-0 victory, he told reporters after a ceremony to hand over cattle for sacrifice in conjunction with the Aidiladha celebration for the Bagan Datuk Parliamentary constituency here today.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the MP for Bagan Datuk, also urged all Malaysians to give rock solid moral support to national team coach Datuk Ong Kim Swee and the players.
The mother of all battles in the SEA Games kicks off at 8.45pm at the Shah Alam Stadium tonight.
