EGAT cooperated with the consulting company to hold the 1st public hearing for the natural gas pipeline from Floating Storage Regasification Unit (FSRU) to South Bangkok Power Plant in Samut Prakan Province. The 1st public hearing was completely conducted in 19 fourms. After this, the consulting company and EGAT will survey the economy and society conditions in the areas and conduct personal interview.
On February 22, 2018, Project Environment Division and Floating Storage Regasification Unit Construction Project of EGAT cooperated with ERM-Siam Co., Ltd., a consulting company in conducting Environmental Impact Assessment held the first public hearing for Floating Storage and Regasification Unit: FSRU, FSRU port, and natural gas pipeline from FSRU to South Bangkok Power Plant in Samut Prakan Province where the terrain natural gas pipeline passes. This public hearing was held at Bang Kaew Sub-district Administration Organization in Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province which was the last one of the total 19 forums.
From the public hearing, it was found that the concerns included the project site selection, construction technique, road traffic impact, safety measures during construction and operation processes, compensation measures for those who would be affected from onshore and offshore pipeline construction, corporate social responsibility management, and community benefits.
After this, the consulting company and EGAT will visit the site to conduct a survey on economic and social aspects and personally interview the locals before organizing the second public hearing in which the draft of EIA report and preventive measures in response to economy, society, and environment to reduce impacts will be presented.
