EGAT hosts “EGAT Energy Forum 2017” showcasing power generation innovations

          EGAT organized the 11th EGAT Energy Forum for the year 2017 to exhibit 24 innovations of electricity generation in the Energy 4.0 era. In the event, there were also academic exchange and a showcase of service innovation to enhance EGAT business’s international competition.

          On November 7, 2017 Mr. Thammayot Srichuai, the Permanent Secretary of Energy Ministry chaired the opening ceremony of the 11th EGAT Energy Forum for the year 2017 under the theme “Challenges to Innovation and Disruptive Technologies in Thailand Power Industry.” EGAT executives welcomed all participants who were independent power producers, small power producers, and power utilities, totaling 400 organizations at Centra by Centara Government Complex Hotel & Convention Center, Chaeng Watthana.

          Mr. Boonyanit Wongrukmit, EGAT Deputy Governor – Business Development, said that EGAT Energy Forum 2017 aimed to disseminate knowledge and experiences of EGAT power business. In the event, seminars to share academic knowledge were held both in Thai and English, surrounded by the atmosphere to promote good relationship between organizations in the power industry both in ASEAN region and other countries. Moreover, new technologies and innovations in the generation process, service and fuel businesses, and EGAT strategies in the Energy 4.0 era were showcased.

          The highlight in the event was the showcase of Disruptive Technology, or new technologies and innovations in the power business, and 24 seminar topics on generation innovations, O&M service, and fuel business presented by the world leading companies on OEM. Besides, there were experience exchange on investing and renewable energy management by EGAT Group and Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), a keynote speech by Dr. Twarath Sutabutr, Director General of Energy Policy and Planning office (EPPO), and a speech “Challenges to Innovation and Disruptive Technologies in Thailand Power Industry” by Mr. Kraisi Karnasuta, ERC Commissioner.

          The exhibition in the event showcased EGAT performance under the theme “Challenges to Innovation and Disruptive Technologies” categorized into 9 aspects namely the dam safety check 4.0, the plant life expectancy and performance improvement, innovations on rotor service business, O&M excellence, the paradigm of Thailand’s future energy, the roadmap of O&M academy, the smart power plant, innovations of chemistry service. 24 seminar topics were categorized into 4 sections namely Operation and Efficiency, Maintenance and Engineering, Challenges to Innovation and Disruptive Technologies in Thailand Power Industry, and LNG and Ash : Technology and Environment.

          EGAT Energy Forum 2017 has promoted the good relationship between EGAT and the network in the power industry both in Thailand and abroad, created trust in EGAT performance including efficiency and the use of modern technologies and equipment, and further developed the power generation innovations to strengthen Thailand’s power system.
