EGAT received the certificate in the Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS) 2016 from participating in greenhouse gas emission reduction.
On September 19, 2016, General Surasak Karnjanarat, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment chaired the certificate awarding ceremony held by Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) (TGO) to honor and encourage people and organizations taking part in greenhouse gas emission reduction, which would lead to greenhouse gas management in big cities with the aim to drive the country towards low carbon economy and society for environmental friendliness. Mr. Tatree Riewcharoen, Assistant Governor – Corporate Social Affairs, was EGAT representative receiving the certificate at Ballroom, Zone A, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
Mr. Tatree Riewcharoen said that LESS was a support project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Activities and tools to simply calculate greenhouse gas reduction and storage were developed so that various organizations could participate. TGO played its role to approve amount of reduced and stored greenhouse gas and provide the certificates to honor all related parties joining the project. EGAT had implemented low carbon activities in the total of 58 schools, the support of label No. 5 light bulb use in 22 schools, power saving community at Ban Puang Sanook Community, Chaing Mai Province, and LED replacement at Kung Krabaen Bay Royal Development Study Center, Chanthaburi Province, which could reduce the total of 330 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.
