EGAT was awarded Thailand Energy Award 2016 in the categories of energy saving and renewable energy from disseminating energy knowledge to the public via www.egat.co.th
On December 6, 2016, Air Chief Marshal Prajin Juntong, Deputy Prime Minister, chaired Thailand Energy Awards 2016 held by Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency, Ministry of Energy at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. In this event, Mr. Tatree Riewcharoen, Assistant Governor – Corporate Social Affairs representing EGAT Governor received the awards in the categories of energy saving and renewable energy from disseminating energy knowledge to the public via www.egat.co.th
In this year, 64 out of 260 projects were awarded in 5 different categories namely renewable energy, energy saving, human resources, creative energy, and conservation.
General Anantaporn Kanjanarat, Minister of Energy said that Thailand Energy Awards is regarded the national award in the international standard. It is one of Ministry of Energy’s projects that is successful. Thailand Energy Awards can support the clear direction of energy policy in the long term and enhance energy saving technology and innovations. Its achievement can be seen through Thailand’s energy leadership and championship in the ASEAN region for 12 consecutive years. This shows development and potential in energy saving of Thailand that will lead to energy security and sustainability in all aspects in response to statements by the 34th ASEAN Ministers on Energy Meetings with the aim to drive ASEAN towards the clean energy and environmental-friendly region.
Mr. Praphon Wongtharua, Director General, Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency added that 24 projects were nominated to contests in the ASEAN region that could win 16 awards from ASEAN Energy Awards 2016, which makes Thailand remain the number one in power industry in this region.
