Ex-Pheu Thai MP Arisman indicted on corruption charge

Former Pheu Thai list MP Arisman Pongruangrong was among five defendants indicted at the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions by the public prosecutor on Tuesday for involvement in alleged corruption in the Ban Uah Arthorn housing project of the National Housing Authority.

The four other defendants in the case are Ms Supavida Kongsuk, an authorized director of Thai Chen Yu International Construction Development Company, Pasthiya Thai Company, Namfatt Construction (Thailand) Limited and Prinziptech Thai Limited.

However, only Ms Supavida and a representative of Prinziptech Company were present at the court. They were later released on a three-million baht bail with a condition that they must not leave the country without prior permission from the court.

The five were the second set of people implicated in the housing project scandal. Earlier on May 9, the prosecutor indicted nine individuals, including former minister Wattana Muangsuk, for involvement in alleged corruption regarding the Uah Arthorn housing project.
