Illegal Gambling Operation Uncovered Inside Temple in Ratchaburi

Ratchaburi: Police and local officials raided an illegal gambling den operating inside a temple. Police and local authorities joined forces to raid an audacious gambling den operating illegally inside a temple, arresting numerous gamblers.

According to Thai News Agency, last night, administrative officials and police raided a gambling den inside a temple in Khubua Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ratchaburi Province. The raid followed a tip that the temple was holding a funeral service and secretly operating a gambling den in the temple hall every night.

Upon seeing the officers, the gamblers scattered and fled. Police managed to apprehend some of them, 21 in total, along with gambling dice, number boards, a quantity of cash, and a deck of playing cards.

Additionally, a search of the gamblers revealed one .380 caliber handgun with ammunition, and another .22 caliber pistol with ammunition in the magazine hidden inside a rice cooker. The officers arrested the two men for possession of the firearms, charging them with illegal possession of firearms and weapons in unauthorized possession, as both guns had complete documentation but the men were not the rightful owners.

Officials took all the gamblers to the special operations room in Mueang district to record their arrests and charged them with jointly engaging in illegal gambling inside the temple.
