Imprisoned United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) Jatuporn Promphan was granted bail by the Criminal Court on Tuesday after spending about three months in detention at Bangkok special prison.
Jatuporn’s lawyer, Winyat Chartmontri, tried unsuccessfully for seven times to convince the court to grant bail to his client. On his seventh trial on Tuesday, he told the court that his client felt guilty for his past mistake for breaking the court’s bail condition and that his client was sick and, at the same time, had to take care of four children.
Upon receiving the request for bail, the court said Jatuporn was already detained in prison for three months which was long enough for him to feel guilty and feel repentant .
Also, the court believed that he would not escape out of the country and had not been found guilty yet.
Winyat posted 600,000 baht bail for the release of Jatuporn.
