Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned his Advisor to visit quarantined insured persons and those at risk of Covid-19 in the quarantine facility in Phetchaburi to encourage and recommend the benefits that insured persons will receive and to motivate full-fledged medical personnel in quarantine facilities.
On January 8, 2021, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned Advisor to the Labour Minister Mrs. Thiwalrat Angkinan and heads of government agencies under the Ministry of Labour in Phetchaburi visited quarantined insured persons and those at risk of Covid-19 in the quarantine facilities in Phetchaburi. The visiting party shared words of encouragement and recommended benefits that insured persons will receive. They also encouraged medical personnel to work hard at the quarantine facilities. Phetchaburi Provincial Governor Mr. Phakphong Twiphat, Deputy Provincial Governor Ms. Akarat Nakakong, and Deputy Doctor of Public Health in Phetchaburi Province Dr. Suthat Chaiyos gave a welcoming. The Labour Minister’s Advisor said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha is concerned for employees/insured persons in the social security system that may be affected by the pandemic. Therefore, he delivered the policy to Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin to issue a Ministerial Regulation for remedies in case of unemployment due to force majeure arising from the outbreak of dangerous infectious diseases under the Communicable Diseases Act B.E. 2563. In the event of force majeure, insured employees are entitled to receive compensation benefits in the event of unemployment, the inability to work, or because the employer does not allow work as they have to stop business operations, either in whole or in part, because the government ordered a temporary closure of the premises to prevent the outbreak. The measures cover employees who are not paid during that time, to be entitled to receive compensation in the event of unemployment at the rate of 50 percent of the daily wage throughout quarantine or surveillance of disease outbreaks or orders to close such places, as the case may be, but not exceeding 90 days in total. The measures assist employers and insured persons who are still affected by the economic situation. This will help alleviate the cost of employers and insured persons. Today, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin assigned the Advisor to the area to visit and encourage insured persons who are quarantine and at risk of contracting Covid-19 at five quarantine facilities and encouraged doctors and nurses in Phetchaburi as well.
