The Labour Minister reported that the Job Expo Thailand 2020, over the three days, had 570 units receive applications. These came from over 120,000 new graduates and the public, with 240,000 vacancies waiting to be filled. Meanwhile, the new graduate employment promotion program had over 1,000 employers join, together with 15,000 graduate students.
On September 28, 2020, Labour Minister Mr. Suchart Chomklin reported the Job Expo Thailand 2020. He said that Prime Minister General Prayuth Chan-ocha and Deputy Prime Minister General Prawit Wongsuwan had stressed the importance of stimulating the economy to create employment from the impact of Covid-19, following the policy of unifying Thailand and building a nation. The initiative aims to help new graduates to have a job, allowing people to recover and generate income in the household sector, to recover the nation quickly. The Prime Minister presided over the event’s opening at Hall 98-99, BITEC Exhibition and Convention Center, Bang Na, Bangkok, on September 26.
Mr. Suchart continued that the results of the Job Expo Thailand 2020, which was held for the first time, had a large number of government agencies, state-owned, and private organizations. There were 570 agencies with 1,355,187 vacancies, a total of 125,383 attendees, and 243,566 job applications. For the new graduates hiring promotion (co-payment) program, 1,048 employers participated in the program, recruiting for 78,855 jobs, and 15,737 new graduates.
This event is the first step and an important one in supporting Thai people to have a job by matching job vacancies for applicants and employers to meet. Employers will gradually fill vacancies, using a database of job applications from the Thaimeengarntum.com platform, where applicants have filled in their details. The nature of the job application for each organization will involve selecting the appropriate staff according to the desired position. From speaking with parents who brought their children to the event, most of them were fresh graduates who applied for work by themselves. It was found that each of them was happy to join this event, as it allowed participants to choose to apply for jobs in their desired position and have the right to choose and apply for multiple companies on the same day. More importantly, it saves costs and is convenient for traveling via the sky train.
“I would like to thank all agencies, including government sectors, private enterprises, and businesses for their interest and cooperation in organizing recruitment, as well as the many new graduates and the public who showed interest in applying for jobs. All participants made the organization of this event achieve its objectives. This will help stimulate overall employment and raise the level of the country’s economic drive to recover again,” said Mr. Suchart.
