Private higher education institutions play an important role in producing a skilled workforce who need to continuously ensure the programmes offered are of quality. Through a cooperation network with a number of overseas higher education institutions, private higher education institutions can be strengthened at the international level and can provide various benefits to the country such as exposure of students at the international arena through implementation of specific modules in line with the country’s requirements. This was emphasised by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Suyoi bin Haji Osman, Minister of Education at the Laksama College of Business, LCB Convocation Ceremony, yesterday.
Touching on the involvement of private higher education institutions in the country, LCB is one of the private higher education institutions that continue to support the national requirements by offering relevant programmes and providing marketable individuals who possess entrepreneurial skills. Yang Berhormat Pehin said that in line with the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in conjunction with Universiti teknologi Brunei’s Convocation Ceremony in October 2015, whereby the monarch urged higher education institutions to continue working together and collaborate with industries, the business sector and government stakeholders in broadening the research and development ecosystem.
The monarch explained that with the involvement of the stakeholders, all initiatives such as education and research will always be relevant and holistic. Stakeholder’s involvement is seriously needed to enhance the development and progress of private higher education institutions especially in preparing graduates to become job-ready.
Some 580 students received their respective certificates in various fields including computing, accounts and marketing. Also present was His Excellency David Campbell, British High Commissioner to the country.
