MOL, SEC and Network Organize CSR Initiatives to Promote Opportunities for People with Disabilities

On April 2, 2021, Deputy Labour Minister Prof. Narumon Pinyosinwat chaired the press conference in cooperation in the form of a dialogue between the Ministry of Labour’s Department of Skill Development, The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, the Disabilities Association of Thailand and Central Group. The event was a co-organized activity to focus on society by utilizing resources that they have in hand for maximum benefit towards corporate social responsibility (CSR). It aims to promote, support, and create opportunities for people with disabilities to have occupations, income, employment, and improved and valuable quality of life. The occasion took place at the Pakorn Angsusingh Meeting Room, 10th floor, Department of Skill Development. Ms. Ruenwadee Suwannamongkol, Secretary-General of the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Ms. Saranphatra Anumatrachakit, Director-General of the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Tawat Benchatikul, Director-General of the Department of Skill Development, Dr. Chatchai Norasetthaporn, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainable Education, and Social Development from Central Group, and Mr. Chusak Chantayanon, President of the Disabilities Association of Thailand, attended the press conference, organizing a forum to drive people with disabilities to have skills and experience that can be used in their occupations.

The Deputy Labour Minister said that collaboration in such activities helps people with disabilities and society in one form. It provides people with disabilities with a career, income, job, and good quality of life, developing them in line with organizations’ objectives. Such organizations may support people with disabilities individually, in communities, or outside communities, including volunteering to help people with disabilities. Examples include taking people with disabilities for health services, travel, education, housing improvement, or adjusting the environment to help people with disabilities have a good quality of life. When organizations support or provide training, knowledge, vocational training for people with disabilities, according to the aptitude of personnel in the department or the wishes of the organization, purchase goods or products from people with disabilities, or support social enterprises for people with disabilities, for example, this will lead to the sustainable development goals and meet the role of the private sector to support people with disabilities.

The press release of this cooperation was a discussion on five issues, namely, the Ministry of Labour’s vision for occupational skills development for people with disabilities, and the guidelines for cooperation with the Office of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), to drive the NAP plan for sustainable development, guidelines for promoting employment of persons with disabilities under the Persons with Disabilities Empowerment Act. B.E. 2550 and its amendments, guidelines for the Department of Skill Development’s efforts in occupational skills development for persons with disabilities and promotion of occupation for persons with disabilities under Article 35 of the Central Group. The CSR activities will promote and support people with disabilities to have a career, income, employment, and develop a good and valuable quality of life valuable according to the wishes of the organizations. This activity has received great cooperation from the SEC. The network of listed companies in the stock exchange will be the main focus for inviting various organizations to organize CSR activities to further promote people with disabilities.
