The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission will follow the directive of the National Council for Peace and Order to extend the payments of the remaining auction fee instalments of digital TV operators from three to six periods.
NBTC secretary-general Takorn Tanthasit clarified on Wednesday that the NCPO’s directive for the extension of the auction fees payments did not mean that the digital TV operators could not choose to pay the rest of the auction fees in three instalments as originally agreed upon.
He said any operators who wanted to extend their instalment payments as instructed by the NCPO must notify the NBTC within 30 days as of December 20.
Also, Takorn said the NCPO also ordered the NBTC and the broadcasting development research fund administrative committee to pay the satellite uplink costs for 26 digital TV stations instead of letting the stations pay the amount themselves.
The uplink costs amount to 800 million baht.
