The National Legislative Assembly is to deliberate in three readings in a row amendments to the Monarchy chapter of the Interim Constitution.
Section 3 of the interim charter amendments bill specifies, in essence, that in case His Majesty the King is not present in the kingdom or cannot perform his duties for whatever the reason, the King can appoint a person to be the regent and the president of the parliament will countersign the appointment.
Section 4 of the amendments bill specifies that in case HM the King makes observation that the amendments bill requires to be changed within 90 day, the prime minister will bring the bill back to be amended as advised by HM the King and to resubmit the bill for Royal approval in 30 days.
Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha, meanwhile, said he had a discussion with a member of the Privy Council on the bill to amend the interim charter and on the flood situation in southern provinces.
The interim charter amendment bill was intended to pave the way for the changes of the constitution draft which already passed the deliberations of the National Legislative Assembly.
