PM advisory panel acknowledges Culture Ministry’s plans and activities to promote Thailand’s role as ASEAN chair in 2019
December 19, 2018, at 1000hrs, Gen. Tanasak Patimapragorn, Deputy Head of National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), in his capacity as chair of Prime Minister’s advisory panel, presided over Prime Minister’s advisory panel meeting at Ministry of Culture.
The panel invited Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat to deliver a special briefing on the Ministry’s plan for cultural activities to promote Thailand’s role as ASEAN chair in 2019. The Minister of Culture disclosed that 2019 will be marked as ‘The Year of ASEAN Culture’ with the aim to enhance Thailand’s and ASEAN’s cultural role at the global stage. Implementation budget will be subsidized by ASEAN Cultural Fund. ‘The Year of ASEAN Culture’ will be first launched in January, followed by series of activities throughout the year, such as ASEAN Street Food in February, Animation movie Ramayana in March, and ASEAN’s Global Heritages book launch (English version) in April. In addition, on December 29, 2018, the procession of Buddha relics from 12 countries will be organized and displayed at Sanam Luang Royal Plaza. New Year overnight prayers will also be held at temples in Thailand and overseas.
Prime Minister’s advisory panel acknowledged Ministry of Culture’s plans and activities to promote Thailand’s role as ASEAN chair in 2019, and will present these plans and activities to the Prime Minister for his acknowledgement and order.
