December 17, 2018, at 1300hrs, at Impact Forum, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi, Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha presided over the opening ceremony of the Budget Bureau’s seminar on Preparation of 2020 Budgeting to hand down the policy on annual budgeting for fiscal year 2020 to all concerned agencies and officials. The seminar is aimed to mobilize 2020 annual budgeting and budget allocation to be in line with the national strategy, master plans under the national strategy, national reform plan, the 12th National Economic and Social Development Plan, national security plan, Sufficiency Economy Philosophy, and the Government’s policies.
The Prime Minister thanked members of the cabinet, and heads and representatives of public agencies for attending the seminar, and underscored the importance of preparedness for the annual budgeting, as the budget is fundamental and a major driving force to national administration. Efficient allocation of budget requires transparency and fairness. National interests has to be taken into account also in the budgeting process.
According to the Prime Minister, budget allocation strategy for fiscal year 2020 comprises: 1) security strategy, 2) national competitiveness enhancement strategy, 3) human resource capacity enhancement and development, 4) opportunity building and social equity promotion strategy, 5) environmental-friendly growth, and 6) public administration balancing and development.
The Prime Minister also emphasized that the national strategy, master plans under the national strategy, and preparation for budgeting and budget allocation will truly engender national reform. He called for all the government officials to put collective effort in doing good deeds and having a heart for volunteering for their own country, as no one can solve problems of the Thai people if not the Thai people themselves.
