Defending the new regulation to be imposed on reporters at the Government House, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha said on Tuesday that he had no personal grudges against any reporter in particular.
Reporters, however, suspected that the new rule was intended to bar veteran reporter and former staffer of the Bangkok Post Mrs Yuwadee Tunyasiri from entering the Government House because of her criticism of the prime minister.
The prime minister said that the new rule for reporters was proposed by security officials because the Government House is regarded as state property.
The new rule requires all reporters working at the Government House to produce to authorities concerned a letter of certification from their offices to prove that they are reporters of their offices.
Mrs Yuwadee is a freelance reporter after her retirement from the Bangkok Post. She reportedly walked out of the Government House after she was told to produce a letter of certification from an office.
