The Italian Ambassador congratulated the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand Italy in 2018, which is a good opportunity for both countries to set the direction for future relations. Both countries have potential to further expand mutual cooperation, especially in security, science and technology, and innovation, tourism, and economic cooperation. Italy is interested in investing in the fields of space engineering, technology and innovation, and smart farming.

Toward the end of the meeting, both parties also discussed relations between Thailand, Italy, and ASEAN. The Italian Ambassador congratulated Thailand’s ASEAN chairmanship in 2019, and hoped that the country would drive ASEAN toward success, and would continue to promote partnership with Europe, including Italy, in creating stability and sustainable development of the Asian region and the world.
