Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha made an inspection trip to Nan province to follow up the progress of efforts to resolve the problems concerning forest encroachment, destruction of watershed areas, reforestation and other land-related issues.
The prime minister was accompanied by the ministers of agriculture, natural resources and environment and interior.
He presided over a ceremony to grant land utilization rights to 1,300 landless villagers on land plots covering about 15,000 rais in the districts of Tha Wangpha, Song Kwae, Ban Luang, Chiang Klang and Na Noi.
The villagers can make use of the land to make a living without the right to claim the land as their own.
The prime minister was given a briefing on work performances regarding reforestation, conservation of watershed areas, flood relief among others. He held discussion with community leaders about development of Nan province in various aspects before visiting Wat Pumin to pay respect to a revered Buddha statue in the temple.
