Speed boat sank off Hong island but five tourists and a guide rescued

A speed boat sank in the sea off Hong island in Tarnbokekhorani marine park in Krabi province on Tuesday evening, but the six foreign tourists and a Thai guide were however rescued by park officials after floating briefly in the sea.

The boat skipper, Mr Aekachai Ratchakarn, said that as he was driving the boat back to Phuket in the evening after bringing five tourists and a Thai guide for a tour of Mai Pai island and Phi-Phi islands off Krabi, the vessel started leaking and water quickly flowed in and eventually sank near Hong island.

The tourists and the guide who were wearing life jackets jumped into the sea and floated there until park officials arrived at the scene and plucked them to safety.
