State of emergency in Deep South extended 3 more months

The government has decided to extend the declaration of the state of emergency in three southernmost provinces except for Mae Larn district in Pattani province for three additional months as of December 20.

According to the government’s announcement which was published in the government gazette, the extension of the state of emergency is necessary to enable security officials to deal with violent incidents in the strife-torn region which are continuing unabetted.

The state of emergency was last extended on September 13 for three months.
