Bangkok, 08 February, 2018 – Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), recently visited Japan’s Sanfrecce Hiroshima Football Club during their special training session in Thailand earlier this month.
Mr. Yuthasak met with Mr. Takuya Yamamoto, President of the Sanfrecce Hiroshima Football Club, and the team members, including Teerasil Dangda, Muang Thong United striker and Thailand’s football star. Teerasil recently joined Sanfrecce Hiroshima, and will b playing as part of the team in the 2018 J.League season which begins later this month.
Also joining the TAT Governor in the meet-and-greet session with the Sanfrecce Hiroshima team were representatives from JETRO Bangkok and Hiroshima Bank.
Mr. Yuthasak said, “With Teerasil playing for Sanfrecce Hiroshima in the upcoming J.League season, Thailand’s position as a tourist destination among the people of Hiroshima and the fan club of Sanfrecce Hiroshima will be strengthened. This will result in more demand for travels to Thailand among Japanese travellers.”
This meet-and-greet session took place just before the Thailand team won this year’sInternational Snow Sculpture Contest at the 69th Sapporo Snow Festival. During the same week, the TAT also launched “Open to the New Shades” Marketing Concept in Japan and signed a Letter of Intent with Kyushu Tourism Promotion Organisation to promote tourism between Thailand and Kyushu Region.
Last year, Thailand recorded 1.54 million travellers from Japan, generating 67.51 billion Baht, representing a year-on-year increase of 7.28 per cent and 9.67 per cent, respectively. Japanese tourists spent on average 5,353 Baht per day, with an average length of stay of eight days. Popular Thai destinations among the Japanese tourists include Bangkok, Chon Buri, Phuket, Chiang Mai and Ayutthaya.
