TAT launches Family Fun Project with mobile app to promote Thailand during Green Season

Bangkok, 28 April, 2017 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) today launched the ‘Family Fun’ project with a mobile application to promote Thailand as a family destination, targeting especially  at families from ASEAN, South Asia and the South Pacific. The project is aimed at boosting tourism to the kingdom during the ‘Green Season.’

Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor said, “Thailand has a wide variety of tourism resources, attractions, activities, infrastructure, hospitality and services that fit for all age groups, so our country actually is a perfect destination for families.  This project is therefore initiated with the aim to enhance awareness of Thailand as a family destination and encourage families to visit during the ‘Green Season.”

The Family Fun project kicked started with familiarisation trips, taking place on 24-28 April, 2017, for about 60 participants, including members of the media, social media influencers and bloggers, celebrity families and travel agents from Australia, India, Sri Lanka, Singapore, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam. Joining the trips include celebrity families; Miss World Australia 2016; bloggers, and travel agent representatives.

The trips highlight family tourism products and services in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Hua Hin and Khao Yai, and conclude in Bangkok with the official launch of the project today at Siam Park City. A table top sale was also arranged for overseas travel agents to meet and explore business opportunities with Thai tourism operators. Participants also had the chance to learn about other leading theme parks – Dinosaur Planet, Scenical World Khao Yai, National Geological Museum, Stanley Miniventure, Khao Yai Farm Village, and Frost Magical Ice of Siam Pattaya – at their displayed booths.

Mr. Yuthasak said, “The trips are expected to boost awareness of Thailand as a destination for family travellers. Since they are travelling in groups, there is no better time to enjoy all the family fun experiences than during our ‘Green Season’ when Thai tourism products and services will be offering privileges and promotions. So we are launching a Family Fun mobile application that highlights all special deals between June and November.”

The Family Fun mobile application will be available to download on 10 May, 2017, and will highlight privileges and promotions from family tourism product and service providers across Thailand, during the six-month period.
