Bangkok: The "Thai Helps Thai" campaign continues to stimulate the grassroots economy, with spending exceeding 110.89 million baht and reducing the cost of living for citizens by over 24.51 million baht, covering 878 districts nationwide.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Narucha Khosasilvilai, Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration, revealed that under the leadership of Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, the "Thai Helps Thai: Reduce the Burden, Lower the Cost of Living" project is continuously being driven forward to alleviate the high cost of living for the public and stimulate the grassroots economy nationwide. The Department of Provincial Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Business Development, modern wholesale and retail stores, local entrepreneurs, and the mobile vendor network, is organizing simultaneous sales events across the country, covering all 878 districts. This aims to increase opportunities for the public to access essential goods at reasonable prices, while also improving the liquidity of small businesses, community shops, SMEs, and OTOP products.
The fourth phase of the event received continued public support, with over 180,000 participants, generating over 23.9 million baht in economic activity and helping citizens save over 5.07 million baht in expenses.
The top five provinces with the highest spending were Chonburi, Saraburi, Ang Thong, Surin, and Yala. Meanwhile, the districts with the highest spending were Mueang Chonburi (Chonburi Province), Mueang Saraburi (Saraburi Province), Mueang Yala (Yala Province), Mueang Ratchaburi (Ratchaburi Province), and Kaeng Khoi (Saraburi Province). Combining the results from the first to the fourth phase, the "Thai Helps Thai: Reduce Burden, Lower Cost of Living" project generated a total of over 110.89 million baht in spending and helped reduce the cost of living for the public by over 24.51 million baht.
The Director-General of the Department of Provincial Administration added that the "Thai Helps Thai: Reduce the Burden, Lower the Cost of Living" campaign will continue every Friday throughout May at district offices nationwide. This aims to help citizens access quality goods at affordable prices, reduce household expenses, and stimulate the grassroots economy in all areas.
