H.E. Mr. Pornpop Uampidhaya, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand hosted a reception to celebrate Thai National Day at Islamabad Marriott Hotel on 3 December 2018.
The event was well attended by H.E. Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, Federal Minister for Railways, as Chief Guest who delivered his remarks about the long standing and cordial relations between Thailand and Pakistan. Ambassador Pornpop Uampidhaya delivered a speech on the significance of the Fifth of December of every year for Thai people as the Birthday Anniversary of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, Thailand’s Father’s Day and Thai National Day. Furthermore,
the Fifth of December of every year was also declared by the United Nations as the World Soil Day in tribute to the lifetime’s work of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej on soil resources development and agricultural development.
There were more than 350 guests from diplomatic corps, high-ranking officials of Pakistan, members of business community, academia and media, as well as Friends of Thailand in Pakistan, enjoying Thai cultural dance performances, authentic Thai food, fruits and sweets with courtesy of Thai Airways International and the Thai-Pak Business and Culture Council, Lahore.
