BANGKOK, Sept 6 (NNN-TNA) — The Commerce Minister has confirmed that Thailand is ready to organise a world jewellery congress in Bangkok this November.
Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said the CIBJO Congress 2017 scheduled Shangri-La Hotel on Nov 2-7, is expecting about 400 participants from 42 countries.
The Gem and Jewellery Institute and the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) are now compiling a list of 300-400 celebrities, trade representatives, academic representatives, investors and gem and jewellery operators from 42 countries who are interested in attending the congress, she said.
The minister said that Thailand would also present at the event its very own gem and jewellery industry and its potential to become the world’s centre of gems and jewellery by 2021.
Apiradi said the highlight in the CIBJO Congress 2017 would be the World Ruby Forum 2017 scheduled on Nov 4.
