Every related sector accounting for 526 attendees provided opinions in various aspects during the second public hearing of Wang Noi Power Plant Replacement Project (Blocks 1-2). All opinions and concerns will be gathered by SECOT Co., Ltd. for Environmental Impact Assessment Report for the utmost benefits of the public and stakeholders.
On February 10, 2018, Mr. Kanchai Kriangkrai-udom, an environmental expert and the Managing Director of SECOT Co., Ltd. expressed his sincere thanks to the attendees who shared their opinions and concerns during the second public hearing on the draft of EIA report at Multipurpose Building, Lam Tasao Sub-district, Wang Noi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province at 9.00 am. Everything went smoothly with 526 locals attending and 7 persons giving verbal opinions.
Most of the concerns of people who gave verbal opinions are involved in environmental management including air quality, dust, and water management for generation process. Moreover, they are concerned about waste water that will be released and water reserve for the dry season. Preventive and problem-solving measures are required. The people also would like to spend power development fund building up green area in the community, while a site visit to EGAT’s power plant is requested to learn the generation process and monitor EGAT’s operation.
Acting Maj. Anuchart Palakawongse na Ayudhya, Assistant Governor – Project Community Relations and Environment expressed his thanks to the locals for their participation in EHIA process. All of the opinions will benefit the EHIA study which will be accurate and completed with the public participation. EGAT ensures that we will maintain the power system security of the country with the concerns on environment and community as the priority. The power plants must stay with the community in harmony and improve the life quality of the people for the sustainable development.
Wang Noi Power Plant Replacement Project (Blocks 1-2) with the 1,470 MW installed capacity will replace the existing Wang Noi Power Plant Blocks 1-2 with the capacity of 1,300 MW, which operate for 2 decades and will be decommissioned in 2019. The new blocks will use natural gas as main fuel and diesel oil as supplementary fuel. They are the high efficient power plants, which contribute to the reduction of fuel use, to strengthen the power system security in the Upper Metropolitan Area.
