Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (EGAT) held JOC Conference to enhance technical and operational cooperation of Thailand – Malaysia power interconnection.
Mr. Junyong Wongjungpong, Assistant Governor – System Control, Mr. Chaisak Yongbanjerd, Director of Power Purchase Agreement Division, Mr. Nutawut Polprasert, Assistant Director of Power System Control and Operation Division, and EGAT officials joined the conference of the 50th Joint Operation Committee (JOC) between EGAT and TNB. The conference was chaired by Mr. Noor Azlan Hamzah, General Manager-Grid Operation of TNB in Ipoh, Malaysia on January 25-26, 2018.
Mr. Junyong Wongjungpong said that JOC is a forum to share knowledge and experience on problem solving, both on technique and power purchase. The cooperation will lead to good relationship and the smooth cooperation among staff in generation and transmission fields to strengthen reliability of power systems of the two countries.
In the conference, apart from reporting the last year’s operational performances and problems, key technical issues such as improvement of overhead ground wire (OHGW), LAN system, line fault locator of high voltage direct current (HVDC), Lao PDR, Thailand and Malaysia-Power Interconnection Project : LTM-PIP, and power purchase via HVDC system during gas supply cut from JDA-A18 on July 22-26, 2018 were discussed. Moreover, TNB held a technical site visit to 132 kV. Gas Insulation Substation (GIS) in Ipoh to share experiences on operation and maintenance.
The Conference of JOC between EGAT and TNB is held annually. For the next year, it will be organized in Thailand in January 2019.
