All opinions will be gathered by the consultant company, Air Save Co Ltd., to define a scope and find preventive measures for the concerned points, which will benefit the second public hearing.
On January 28, 2018 Mrs. Meena Thippayasopanakit, the Managing Director of Air Save Co Ltd., said that the company would like to express the sincere thanks to Krabi people for attending the public hearing to offer opinions and concerns, which is a part of Environmental Health Impact Assessment (EHIA) process. The public scoping was held at Klong Kanan Sub District Administration Organization office in Nuea Khlong District, Krabi Province from 1.00 – 5.00 pm. Everything went smoothly with 2,630 locals attending and 57 persons giving verbal opinions.
Most of the concerns of people who gave verbal opinions are involved in power development fund scope expansion, impacts on mental health and the local’s way of life, and information sharing with both of pros and cons, for the people to gain all aspects of information before decision. All opinions will be gathered by Air Save Co Ltd. to define a scope and find preventive measures for the concerned points of locals in 4 sub-districts which are Klong Kanan, Pakasai, Klong Thomtai, and Koke Yang. The next public hearing, Public Screening, will be conducted by interviewing the locals. After that, the EHIA draft will be reviewed and consulted, which is the third public hearing process.
Acting Maj. Anuchart Palakawongse na Ayudhya, Assistant Governor – Project Community Relations and Environment expressed his thanks to the locals for their participation in EHIA process. All of the opinions will benefit the EHIA study and are gathered to define a scope of environmental impact assessment for the second and third public hearings so that the EHIA study will be accurate and completed with the public participation. EGAT ensures that we will maintain the power system security of the country with the concerns on environment and community as the priority. The power plants must stay with the community in harmony and improve the life quality of the people for the sustainable development.
