The Cabinet on 23 March 2021 approved the third phase of the “We Travel Together” (Rao Thiao Duai Kan) scheme and a package tour stimulus program, known as “Tour Thiao Thai.”
The We Travel Together scheme, phase 3, will run from 1 May to 31 August 2021 and will cover an additional two million applicants. The recipients of the scheme will have to book hotel rooms at least seven days in advance, instead of three days.
They will have their faces scanned before check-in. The value of e-voucher given to the recipients will be limited to 600 baht a day. This scheme, proposed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, is part of the Government’s efforts to boost domestic tourism.
Concerning the Tour Thiao Thai stimulus program, the Government will subsidize 40 percent of tour packages up to 5,000 baht a person from a minimum price of 12,500 baht.
Participants in this program must travel from Sunday to Thursday and buy packages with a domestic tour agency for at least three days and two nights. The program involves a budget of 5,000 million baht.
The package tour stimulus program is set to cover one million participants and will also run from 1 May to 31 August 2021. Participants in this program must be 18 years old and over on the date of registration.
The Government expects that the Tour Thiao Thai stimulus program will help promote the tourism business and generate more income for the people.
