Japan Airlines Confirms Unauthorized Access to Customer Data


Tokyo: Japan Airlines (JAL) has confirmed that its systems were compromised, resulting in the potential leak of personal data of up to 28,000 users. The breach involved unauthorized access to the airline’s baggage delivery booking system, which is primarily used to transport luggage from the airport to designated hotels.



According to Thai News Agency, the unauthorized access occurred at 00:40 local time on Monday, February 9. The potentially compromised data includes names, email addresses, and phone numbers of customers who have used the service since July 10, 2024. However, sensitive information such as credit card numbers and passwords were not affected. Additionally, flight-related details such as flight numbers, origin and destination airports, and hotel names may also have been exposed in the breach.
